JEFFERSON MEMORIAL WASHINGTON D.C.

Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States and he was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776).

The Memorial which was designed by John Russell Pope is located in the West Potomac Park, the beautiful park which is famous for the Japanese Cherry Trees , a gift of the people of Japan in 1912

The building was completed in 1942.

The Jefferson bronze statue was added in 1947.
