Last post office in the Netherlands

In many countries, commercialized postal services have closed the traditional post offices and set up small service points in supermarkets and magazine shops.

On the 27th of November at 18.00 hrs, the last post office in the Netherlands at the Neude in Utrecht, has closed its doors. It was not only the last, but for many people the most beautiful post office in the Netherlands. Designed by Joseph Crouwel (1885-1962). Built as a very rich example of the so called Amsterdam School.

In order to make the original interior available online, Frank van der Pol has made a VR panorama of the interior, using an 8 meter high mast. The panorama was shot with a Nikon D3x using 8 images made with a 16 mm fisheye lens, resulting in a stitched image of 16,000 x 8,000 pixels. Large enough to clearly display all interesting parts of the interior with sufficient detail.
